Willie James Young, affectionately known as "Pop," entered this world on October 17, 1943, in the quaint town of Monticello, Florida. A beacon of warmth and laughter, he carried an outgoing spirit and a friendly smile that lit up the lives of everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. With great passion, he embraced life, becoming a steadfast mentor and encourager to countless individuals, always seeking to uplift those around him and inspire them toward their own successes.
Pop took immense pride in his family, embodying the roles of devoted husband, loving father, and steadfast provider. He was married to Eloise Hymes-Young for 46 years. They raised a family in Rochester, New York where they built a life with love and shared dreams. Mr. Young leaves behind his wife, Eloise, a daughter, Charonn Mesidor (Bernard), and two sons, Michael Jackson and Bakahri Hymes-Young, instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of community.
Throughout his life, Willie found joy in the simple pleasures—watching westerns and rooting for his favorite sports teams. His laughter echoed in the hearts of those he loved, and his caring, giving nature left indelible marks on his community. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned a purple heart, a testament to his bravery and commitment to service. After his discharge from the Army, he became an advocate for other veterans.
