Mony Tanhuo Chhay
January 1,1952 - March 26, 2022
Mony Tanhuo Chhay passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the age of 70 years old. Mony was born January 1, 1952 in Cambodia, parents Chhay Tong Hor and Sarin Ouch. In Cambodia, he served as a pilot in the Cambodian Airforce and was the oldest of 11 siblings. During
the crisis of war, he was able to escape and seek freedom and safety in the United States. After entering the United States, he then proceeded to fight for that same freedom and opportunities for his
mother and siblings that are here with us today. He is a true hero in the Chhay family and will always be remembered for his unselfish efforts.
Mony is a loving husband to Chantha Chhay and a proud father of three children, Dany (Chhay) Danhausen, Dana (Chhay) Valdez and Chanrith Chhay. He is also a wonderful grandfather to his only grandson, Trey Valdez. Mony was the big brother to: Vuthy Chhay, Bora Chhay, Vuthea Chhay, Vutha Chhay, Sothavy (Chhay) Erdman, Serei (Chhay) Rymek, and Vuthik Chhay.
Mony was preceded in death by his grandparents Chhay Hor, Ma Houn, Prak Ouch, and Oul Sann; father Chhay Tong Hor; Father in-law Dr. Khun Son Soeung; Mother in-law Ly Houn; siblings Chhay Tan Mona, Chhay Tan Mary; sibling in-law Son Sary, Son Bopha, Son Dana; aunts and uncles
Chhay Teav, Chhay Seug Hour, Chhay Chhai, Chhay Meng Hour, Chhay Chorn Hour, Chhay Nay Oy, Chhay Sim, Ouch Som Oun, Ouch Som An, and Ouch Saroeun. Visitation for Mony is on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Richard Funeral Services in Haines City from 3PM -6PM.
