Michael Lavar Massey

Michael Lavar Massey, fondly known as Mike, was born on March 4, 1979, in Lake Wales, Florida. He left this world peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Orlando, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, culinary passion, and cherished memories.

Michael dedicated much of his working years to the culinary arts, honing his skills at Ihop and Brandywyne. His talents earned him recognition, including an award from Ihop for his menu submission—a testament to his creativity and hard work. Through his career, he not only exemplified excellence in cooking but also took immense pleasure in preparing delicious meals that brought laughter and joy to those he loved.

A lover of gardening and cooking, Michael cultivated not only plants but also relationships with those around him. His nurturing spirit extended beyond the garden; he often found himself helping people in need, embodying a personality steeped in compassion and generosity. Friends and family alike will remember his warmth and unwavering support, as he always made time to lend a helping hand or listen to a friend in distress.

Michael's passing has left a profound void in the lives of his family. He is survived by his father Gregory Massey; his devoted siblings, Tommy Madden, Kya Massey, and Aureal Massey; his special aunt, Kimberly Persuad; his aunts Nora Albert and Elija Mcknight; as well as his beloved nephews Tommy Madden Jr., Myrone Jean, Kyreece Howard, Aamir Hamilton, O'Ziah Fields, and Xylo Fields. He will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces Chanel Howard and Cha'nya Howard, along with cousins Shaneeria Brathwaite, Ambria Persaud, and Mathew Braithwaite.

Michael is deeply mourned by those who knew him, including his late mother, Kathy Massey, and aunts Anita Lasiter and Carolee Ann Albert, who will always hold a special place in his heart.

To honor his life, a visitation service will be held at the New Divine Church of God By Faith in Lake Wales, Florida, on September 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM that same day.
