Kim Charles

Ms. Kim Mercer Charles passed away on May 19, 2023 at the age of 67. She was born on June 24, 1955 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, to her parents, Paula Hines and Olenza Mercer.

Ms. Charles graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School in June of 1973. She continued her education, earning an Associates of Science Degree in Business Computer Programming in May of 2004 at Florida Career College. Then, she received her Bachelors of Science in Technical Management in October of 2007 from Devry University, where she made the Dean’s List 3 years in a row. She worked at Burdines/Macy’s Department Store for 25 years in the Loss Prevention Department. Once she moved to Davenport, she spent the last 2 years working at Walmart as a CSR. 

Ms. Charles completed her Catholic Communion and Confirmation in May of 1967. She later switched to Christian in 2000, where she was an active member of Jesus People Ministries. She was also a faithful member of the choir for 8 years. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Her nieces and nephews were her happy place. She will be truly missed by everyone who loved her.

Ms. Charles is preceded in death by her mother, Paula Hines; her father, Olenza Mercer and her sister, Shelley Booker.

Ms. Kim Mercer Charles leaves her brother, Brian Mercer; her niece, Britney Mercer (Torrel); her nephews, Anthony Booker (Tiffany), Brian Booker, Brandon Mercer, Bryson Mercer, Aiden Mercer, Jace Mercer;; great nieces and nephews, Jayden Booker, Christian Booker, Alexis Booker, Dylan Booker, Brian Booker Jr., Brielle Charles, Trinity Charles, Charles Booker; special cousin, Gina Davis and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her legacy.

The Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Richard Funeral Services 233 North 9th Street Haines City, FL 33844.
