Joan Joy Whyte

Joan Joy White-McLaren, affectionately known as Joy, was born on February 2, 1967, at Jubilee Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica, to Bernice and Sydney McLaren. Raised within a large and loving family, she also received the devoted care and guidance of Eliza Grant.

Joy attended Miss Whittle Basic School, Wilmington Primary School, and Seaford High School in Jamaica before pursuing nursing training in the United States. She dedicated herself to caring for the elderly, serving at Kissimmee Health and Rehabilitation Center from February 11, 2016, until her passing.

After moving from Jamaica to Georgia and later Pennsylvania, Joy became a cherished part of her brother Rupert’s household. For five precious years, she helped nurture her nieces, Natasha and Natalia, loving them as her own and filling their childhood with laughter, adventures, and treasured memories. She also shared a special, daughter-like bond with Mikaily.

Joy married her beloved husband, Owen Whyte, and together they made their home in Florida for 18 wonderful years. Their marriage was filled with love, companionship, and devotion. A faithful member of Miracle Temple Ministries, Joy was baptized on November 30, 2025, alongside her dear friend and baptismal sister, Debbie Nugent.

Joy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, church family, and colleagues. Her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, vibrant spirit, and generous heart touched countless lives.

Though deeply missed, her love and memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
