Isaiah Stewart, affectionately known as Kenny, finger, Nassette, papa and Ackee tree, was born on June 17, 1947 in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He is the 3rd son out of six children of the late Dudle Stewart and Rachael Black McCloud. Late brothers Sonny Stewart, Vernon Stewart, Albert Dixon and sister Lynette Dixon. He is survived by his sister Lucilda Clarke and brother Augustus McCloud.
In 1967 he met Junel Dalhouse, got married and started his family which consists of gaining two sons, Lawrence and Emmeth Matthews. They further extended their
family by having 4 children: Joseph, Maxine, Sonia and Steve Stewart. Although
Samento Stewart (Steve) was his nephew, he was raised as his son, followed by Latoya and Wayne Stewart.
Kenny did not finish his education at District Public School of St. Catherine because he had to support his family. Instead, he went to learn the trade of Operating Engineer which became his career. In 1975 he lost two of his fingers fixing his tractor trailors. This did not stop him from working. Kenny made sure that his children got their education and were not in need of anything. He was a believer of his children finishing school because he did not have the opportunity to.
In 1988 Kenneth migrated to America where he met Elizabeth Stewart at her sister’s wedding. Later they got married in 1990 and he gained two sons, Jeffrey and Demaurice Andrews. In 2001, Kenny played a role in the clean up after the tragic 9/11 Incident. Kenny worked with the International Union of Operating Engineer local 1414B.
In 2006 they relocated to Florida. Although he retired in 2012, that didn’t stop him from working. He spent the rest of his retirement playing dominos with his domino brothers and relaxing to his music.
Mr. Isaiah Stewart was loved and respected by everyone he encountered. He did not have a specific church home, but he was welcomed by all and he had a strong
relationship with the Lord. He will surely be missed and his memory will live on
through the abundance of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
