Irwin "Skip" Hamburger, a beloved figure known for his warmth, generosity, and impeccable sense of humor, passed away on May 24, 2026, in Haines City, Florida. Born on March 20, 1936, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Skip lived a life rich with memorable experiences and meaningful relationships.

Skip dedicated 23 years of his career to Walt Disney World, where he found his true calling as the conductor on the Steam Trains at the Magic Kingdom. His passion for his work and his natural charisma made him a cherished member of the Disney family. Beyond his professional achievements, Skip was a man who loved the thrill of roller coasters, the adventure of cruises, and the joy of visiting theme parks, embracing every opportunity for enjoyment and excitement.

In addition to his career at Disney, Skip proudly entertained audiences in Las Vegas, sharing his comedic talents and spreading laughter—an extension of the joy he brought to friends and family alike. Known as the perfect gentleman, he combined kindness and generosity with a sharp wit and a penchant for storytelling, always ready with a joke to brighten the day.

Skip is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Hamburger; his son, David Hamburger; and an extended family that includes Michael Willenski (nephew), Sharon Willenski (niece), Stacey Overcash (niece), Mark Overcash (nephew), Steve Willenski (nephew), JC Willenski (great nephew), and Ian Overcash (great nephew). They, along with many friends, will remember Skip not only as a family member but as a treasured companion and best friend whose presence enriched their lives.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Hamburger; his mother, Francine Hamburger; and his brother, Melvin Hamburger.

A burial service will be held on June 2, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513. This final tribute will honor Skip’s remarkable journey and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him.

Irwin "Skip" Hamburger’s legacy is one of laughter, kindness, and a life fully embraced. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
