The Life of Georgia Mae Faniel (Sul)

Georgia Mae Faniel, affectionately known as "Sul," was born on January 2, 1931, in Hurtsboro, Alabama, to Leroy and Gussie Rivers Dennard. She married Willie James Faniel Sr., and together they had four children: Corella, Willie Jr., Rosetta, and Curtis. Georgia Mae was a dedicated worker in every job she held. She was the first Black employee at Haines City Packing House, was a Migrant Worker, and retired from Walt Disney after 20 years in housekeeping. She was an Eastern Star member and the last living member of the International Prayer Band of Lake Hamilton, FL. She loved attending the Pastor Aide Union and Congress #3 sessions. Georgia Mae loved San Hill and actively participated in Choir #1, the Senior Women Mission, and the Mother Board until her health declined.
Georgia Mae was a beloved and respected community figure. She embodied love and forgiveness, urging her family to maintain forgiving hearts. Her devotion to God and others was unwavering, and she showed love to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gussie and Leroy Dennard, brother Jamie Lee “Bubba” Dennard, sisters Annie Will Cobb and Essie Mae Samuels, grandson Curtis Allen Faniel, and granddaughter Laprecious Faniel. Mother Georgia Mae Faniel leaves to cherish. SONS Willie James Faniel Jr. (Beverly) Winter Haven, Fl, Curtis Lee Faniel (Gina), Fort Meade, Fl. DAUGHTERS, Corella Tarboro (Howard) Kissimmee Fl, Rosetta Richard (Samuel), Haines City, Fl. & fourteen Grandchildren and nineteen Great-grandchildren, the last surviving sister Willie C. Kindrex known as (Nank), and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
We extend our gratitude to Mom’s caregivers: Marie Joseph, Marilyn Joseph, and Judy Faniel Taylor.
A visitation for Ms. Georgia Mae will be Friday, April 18th from 5 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, April 19th at 11 a.m. All services will take place at The New San Hill Missionary Baptist Church. 1101 Church Street, Haines City, Fl. 33844.
