Ersulia Eloi, lovingly known as Sia, passed away on October 20, 2026, in Lake Wales, Florida. She was born on June 24, 1939, in Gonaives, Haiti, and carried with her throughout life a spirit defined by strength, love, and unwavering determination.
Sia will be remembered as an extremely strong, tenacious, consistent, loving, and caring woman. What so many admired most about her was the way she built her life in America with remarkable perseverance, accomplishing all that she did without the benefit of schooling or the ability to read and write. Her life stood as a powerful example of resilience, dignity, and devotion.
She found joy in yoga, crafting, cooking, traveling, singing, and, above all, spending time with her family. The things she treasured most were the people she loved and the home she created for them. Her family, her children, and her house were among her proudest accomplishments, reflecting the care, effort, and heart she poured into every part of her life.
She is survived by her son, Mario Sanon, who carries forward her love and memory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke Sanon; her daughter, Marie Sanon; and her father, Wilson Eloi. Their bonds remain a lasting part of her story, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on November 8, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Haitian Seventh Day Adventist Church, 229 N 14th Street, Haines City, Florida 33844. A Celebration of Life will follow from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Burial will take place at 12:15 p.m. at New Oakland Cemetery, 1250 Oakland Cemetery Road, Haines City, Florida 33844.
Sia’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and quiet strength. She gave deeply, cared faithfully, and created a legacy rooted in family. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
