Captain Clara Crawl-Martin, age 66 of Alexandria, VA. (formerly H.C, FL). Clara passed away on Tuesday 1/06/2026. She was born on 04/09/1959, in Bartow, FL to Mr. Joe B. & Lessie Laster Crawl. Clara was an Honor Graduate of HCHS, Class of 1977, and a member of the J.R.O.T.C. She was an avid reader, a very intelligent, and ambitious young woman, who loved serving our country and fellow Americans. Clara was baptized at an early age at St. Mary's PBC-Haines City under the leadership of Elder J.L. Grant.
After High School she furthered he education at Polk Community College, and later graduated with honors from Rutgers School of Law in New Jersey. While she was pursuing her Law Degree, she decided to join the Army. There she ranked 2nd LT and 1st LT. In 1985 Clara pursued yet another goal to become a part of the WHITE HOUSE STAFF. She served as a MESSAGE REVIEW OFFICER IN THE PENTAGON TELECOMMUNICATION CENTER. After several years, she left the Pentagon and continued serving our country by joining the USAR until she retired, as CAPTAIN in 2005. Clara was also a realtor with Remax Realty in Virginia. She was preceded in death by her sister Carrie Laster, and brother, Charles (Charlie) Laster.
After 66 years, she leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Jonathan Crawl, grandson, Jonathan Crawl Jr., (2 brothers) Eddie Laster Sr., and Mathes Crawl, (6 sisters), Lessie Hardley, Margaret Laster, Marie Laster Anderson, Belinda Gunter, Charlie Crawl King, & Bernice Crawl-Poromon. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncle, and friends.
Family and friends we welcome you to the Celebration of Life Service honoring Captain Clara Crawl-Martin to be held on Sunday February 1, 2026 at 3 p.m. at Richard Funeral Services in Haines City, Fl. 233 N 9th Street. Haines city, Fl. 33844.
