Christiana Dorante, lovingly known to many as "Jah Jah," passed away on April 1, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida. Born on August 27, 1942, in Saint Louis, Haiti. Christiana's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to her family.
She was a woman of remarkable warmth and charisma, a soul easy to love, whose care and gentleness left an indelible mark on all fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her life, she witnessed the struggles of those around her and took it upon herself to lighten their burdens, often doing things for others that time and circumstance made difficult. Her hard work was evident not only in her daily life but also in her extraordinary talent for mending and sewing—skills she honed and was truly proud of. This gift allowed her to nurture her family in a unique and tangible way, stitching together not just fabric, but moments of comfort and connection.
Christiana was a loving mother who poured her heart into raising her children. Even in moments when it felt impossible, she tried her best, embodying a beautiful spirit both inside and out. Her love extended beyond her children to her many grandchildren, who remember her as a gentle and steady presence in their lives.
She is survived by her beloved children, Nadine Charles, Yves Charles, William Charles, Jean Charles, and Francoise Charles; her devoted sister, Carmene Nicholes; and her cherished grandchildren, Aiden, Amirah, Andrea, Ruby, Rudcha, Julie, Kederlie, Yvemarlie, Samuel, Angeline, and Francois Charles. Their lives were brightened and shaped by her affection and wisdom.
Christiana was preceded in death by her spouse, Francois Charles, as well as her father, Ultima Dorante, and her mother, Sidelia Alexis. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
