Arthur "Art" Leath, born on June 29, 1950, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, in Lake Wales, Florida, surrounded by the memories of a life well-lived and the love of his family. He was 75 years old.
Art dedicated an impressive 45 years of his life to Florida Natural Growers, where he rose to the esteemed position of Supervisor. His diligent work ethic and unwavering commitment were attributes that defined his professional life, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community.
A proud graduate of Roosevelt Senior High School, Class of 1968, Art was not only dependable and hardworking but also infused humor and warmth into the lives of those around him. He was described as a loving and caring individual who gave unconditional love to his family and friends. The impact he had on their lives is immeasurable.
Art was known far and wide as the best cook in the world, a title he embraced wholeheartedly thanks to his extraordinary culinary skills. His passion for cooking was matched only by his green thumb; he took immense joy in tending to his garden, nurturing the plants that flourished under his care. He also had a soft spot for hobbies like baseball, softball, and car racing. As a devoted coach, he happily shared his love for sports, proudly serving as a mentor for his daughter’s softball team and baseball coach for his grandson's team.
Beyond his family and career, Art was a beloved community member. He served as Vice President of the Lake Wales Car Club, embraced his role on the Executive Board of Directors for the Grove Community Garden, and willingly volunteered for the Freedom Tour. His contributions to mentoring students at Lake Wales High School demonstrate his dedication to uplifting the next generation.
He leaves behind a loving family: his daughters Lashaun Leath James, Stephanie Leath, and Whitney Leath; his grandchildren, Laveral Odum Sr., Ron James, Javun Thomas, Amari James, Corey Harris Jr., Tyler Heyward, Jazelyn Leath, and Halle Harris; as well as his cherished sisters, Antoinette Meeks, Drucilla Williams and Elsie Holmes, and his aunt, Magaret Holmes.
In addition to his beloved family, Art now reunites in rest with his father, Lovett Way; his mother, Thelma Leath Francis; and his brother, Charles Francis, who have all passed on, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and laughter.
Art left an imprint on the hearts of everyone who knew him. His lively sense of humor, nurturing spirit, and genuine kindness will live on in the countless memories shared with family and friends. A visitation will take place on March 7, 2026, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Wales, FL, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 1:00 PM, commemorating a man who truly exemplified love, dedication, and community service.
Arthur Leath will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in every cherished story and in every gathering of family—a testament to a life fully lived and a heart that touched many.
